As an attention grabber, making an album in a log cabin in Tuam is quite special, but then so are some of the songs on Galway man Mullins' debut. It's one for fans of acoustic guitars and harmonies, and Mullins packs plenty into his stories of loss, mistakes made and getting on with it.

While the former Pier Nineteen man shows on 'Across the Ocean' that he's well able to up the tempo if needs be, elsewhere he's in no hurry, and so this a record that you settle into. Best of all, the piano playing on 'Not Strong in Me' and ambient closer 'Apple Song' say there's more to Mullins than he reveals here.

A fine talent that's worth finding the time for.
