Warners - 2002 - 73 minutes

As Warners 'Right On' series of rare grooves goes from strength to strength, they've now hit the fast forward button by a few years to disco's heyday.

Chances are you've never heard any of the tracks on offer here but they're a relief to those compilations that assumes the likes of Candi Staton and Chic's careers begin and end with 'Young Hearts Run Free' and 'Le Freak'.

This may be collector country and there's a big argument about whether these songs work if you don't have a dancefloor installed in your bedroom, but the marathon instrumental workouts will eventually win you over.

Shame the budget didn't extend to a few more liner notes and photos but doubtless Volume Two isn't that far off. In the meantime the joys of 'Paradise' and 'Sao Paulo' await.
