Deadly 60 presenter Steve Backshall is the latest contestant to be announced for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing on BBC One.

Speaking on BBC Breakfast, the BAFTA-winning naturalist said: "My day job filming wildlife in jungles and swamps is nothing like as scary as what is ahead."

He added: "I think Strictly Come Dancing is going to be my wildest challenge by far."

Also confirmed for the new series are EastEnders' Jake Wood, former The Only Way is Essex star Mark Wright, Blue singer Simon Webbe, The Saturdays' Frankie Bridge, former rugby player Thom Evans, presenter Alison Hammond, Andy Murray's mother Judy and Casualty star Sunetra Sarker.
