Philadelphia's Rose Maria Walsh is enjoying her first full day as the new Rose of Tralee, telling RTÉ's Morning Ireland: "This is all very surreal for me."
Twenty-seven-year-old Walsh became the 55th Rose of Tralee at the Festival Dome in the town on Tuesday night (August 19).
Walsh, a native of Boston, Massachusetts, moved to the south Mayo village of Shrule in 1994 and then to Philadelphia in late 2011.
She studied Journalism and Visual Media in Griffith College, Dublin and graduated in 2009.
She is a Studio Manager for Anthropologie, a clothing and lifestyle brand.
When asked by Morning Ireland about the year ahead, Walsh replied: "Hopefully I will be able to provide Kerry and the festival [with] as much as I can."
Conor Walsh from Limerick was named the Escort of the Year at the festival. Watch the show at: www.rte.ie/player.
