Ahead of the Tour de France, stars from Emmerdale and Coronation Street are to take part in a charity cycle between the sets of the ITV soaps.

Emmerdale stars Nicola Wheeler (Nicola King), James Hooton (Sam Dingle) and Jamie Shelton (Robbie Lawson) will be cycling 60 miles from the Rovers to the Woolpack on the Tour de ITV on July 1 in aid of sports groups and Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Coronation Street participants have yet to be announced and the line-up also includes Good Morning Britain weather presenter Laura Tobin.

The cycle includes a section of the Tour de France route in the Pennines ahead of next month's Yorkshire Grand Depart in the world famous cycle race.

Sara Hanson, ITV's Head of Corporate Responsibility, said: "The Tour de ITV is a great way that we can go that extra mile during a fantastic summer of sport and a perfect opportunity to showcase the essential role of the volunteer behind any big or small sporting event."
