Robert Pattinson has bowed out of the upcoming movie about Saddam Hussein, Mission: Blacklist.

The Twilight star was set to play the lead role of military interrogator Eric Maddox in the drama, which chronicles the hunt for the former Iraqi dictator.

Maddox spearheaded the hunt for Hussein in 2003, and penned the book which inspired this film.

Pattinson has had to exit the project due to scheduling conflicts, according to The Wrap.

The filmmakers are hoping to begin shooting the movie this autumn after Pattinson's role is recast.

The 27-year-old actor can next be seen in Map to the Stars and The Rover.
