The Libertines have confirmed they will reunite this summer for a one-off show at London's Hyde Park.

Pete Doherty sparked rumours earlier this week saying he had been asked to reform the band for the show as part of Barclaycard's British Summer Time festival and now it's official, they will headline the event.

Carl Barat tweeted this morning, "So, officially speaking, The Libertines will be playing Hyde Park on July 5th with the Pogues and some grand British bands... !! x"

The BST Hyde Park Twitter page tweeted last night, "Want another headliner? Only 12 hours to go..." along with a blurred out image of the cover of their debut album Up The Bracket, they have since confirmed that the rumours are true and they will play Hyde Park on July 5.

The band, who split in 2004, last reunited for the Reading and Leeds festival in 2010.
