An American release is among a number of deals which have been agreed for The Stag, the new Irish comedy starring Hugh O'Conor, Andrew Scott, Peter McDonald, Brian Gleeson and Amy Huberman.

Screen Daily, which first reported the story, says that The Stag has also been sold to Canada, Australia and New Zealand, German-speaking Europe and Italy, with further deals expected.

Co-written by actor McDonald and director John Butler, The Stag follows a group of friends who head off camping to the West of Ireland before the big day and also stars Michael Legge and Andrew Bennett.

The film closes the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival this Sunday, February 23, and will be released in Irish cinemas on Friday March 7.
