Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch celebrated his win in the Best Detective category at last night's National Television Awards in the UK by taking a rather novel approach with his acceptance speech.

The star, who has now appeared in more movies in one year alone than most actors do in a lifetime, accepted his prize via satellite link from Hollywood wearing an immaculate dinner jacket but he also had a surprise for his delighted fans. Have a look here!

To nobody's great shock, Cumberbatch's Sherlock triumphed Broadchurch's David Tennant and Olivia Colman, Luther's Idris Elba, Scott & Bailey's Suranne Jones and Law & Order UK's Bradley Walsh.
