Iron Man 3 has been named the highest grossing film of 2013 which makes him the biggest earning superhero film-star ever.
The blockbuster film raked in over $1.2 billion in the world-wide box office this year following its release in April.
The third film in the Iron Man series, but the character's fourth cinematic outing if you include his appearance in The Avengers adds up to a total of $3.8 billion in box office receipts pushing Iron Man ahead of other superhero's Batman and Spider-Man in the high-earning stakes.
Tim Burton, Joel Schumacher and Christopher Nolan's Batman films total at $3.7 billion altogether and all four Spider-Man's having earned $3.2 billion.
Other high earning films of 2013 include Despicable Me 2, Fast & Furious 6 and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire – which earned $80 million more than the first instalment of the franchise last year.
