Playwright, director and screenwriter David Mamet has signed a deal with Fox, Lionsgate TV and 20th Century Fox TV to create a seven-hour limited series based on the Seven Deadly Sins.

The 66-year-old two-time Pulitzer Prize winner plans to write and direct the first episode, and to write at least two more segments, according to Variety.

The episodes will deal with the themes of lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy and pride.

Mamet's past TV credits include HBO's Phil Spector and the CBS military drama series The Unit.

Casting details and an air date for 7 Deadly Sins have yet to be announced.
