Former Britain's Got Talent star Susan Boyle has said that Meryl Streep has been approached to play her in an upcoming biopic.

Speaking to Metro, Scottish singer Boyle said: "I wouldn't like to be in the film myself.

"I'd like someone to play me. Probably Meryl Streep - I understand she has been approached."

Last year Streep won an Oscar for her portrayal of Margaret Thatcher in the biopic The Iron Lady and according to Boyle she could be in line to play the singer in the upcoming Fox Searchlight film.

A stage musical about Boyle's life has previously toured the UK, with Boyle played by Elaine C Smith.
