Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice creator Shonda Rhimes has revealed that she knows how and when her latest hit show Scandal will end.

The soapy political dramacurrently airing on UK channel More4 - follows the trials and tribulations of Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington), who starts her own crisis management firm after leaving the White House, where she worked as a press aide.

Speaking about Scandal on US radio programme Morning Edition, Rhimes said: "[The show] is very political. The political landscape on the outside, in the real world, will change - possibly before Scandal is over.

"But I feel like there is a finite amount of Scandal to be told. So I know what the end of Scandal will be, and I feel really good about that. And I can see where the end point is. And I don't think I'm going to change that . . . I know how long I think it will be. But we'll see."

This year Scandal was nominated for multiple Primetime Emmy Awards. Washington was nominated for an Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series prize, and Dan Bucatinsky won for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series.
