Glee star Alex Newell has started working on his debut album.

The 21-year-old actor, who is best known for his recurring role as Wade 'Unique' Adams on Fox's musical comedy-drama, has signed with Glee executive music producer Adam Anders' record label, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Speaking about his new gig, Newell said: "I am thrilled to join this new family and take another step in my career. Singing is my passion and to now have the opportunity to make my own music is a dream come true! I can't thank... (everyone) enough for welcoming me with open arms."

Alex landed a part on Glee after competing on U.S. reality show The Glee Project in 2011.
