Rolling Stones lead singer Mick Jagger will produce the upcoming Elvis Presley biopic which will be directed by Last King of Scotland's Kevin Macdonald.

The film will be based on Peter Guralnick's 1995 novel, Last Train to Memphis and will focus on Presley's early years.

According to Variety, Fox has issued an open casting for actors aged between 18 and 22 years to play The King.

Jagger will begin work on the film when he wraps on a James Brown biopic.

Macdonald also directs Saoirse Ronan in How I Live Now which will be released on October 4.
