Nicolas Cage who is premiering his new film Joe in the Venice Film Festival has said that he has no plans to retire.

The 49-year-old actor said that the film is ''one of the most memorable" in his almost 35-year career.

Speaking about retirement, he said: "Film performance is a part of me.

"That is not to say I don't have fantasies of living a life of contemplation and sitting in the sun, but I can't just sit by the pool with a Mai Tai. I need to work."

Joe is one of 20 films competing for the acclaimed Venice Film Festival Golden Lion award which will be presented on September 7.
