Acclaimed Hollywood actor Paul Giamatti is poised to star in a new drama pilot for US cable channel FX.
The show is called Hoke and will be written by Get Shorty screenwriter Scott Frank, and is based on a series of novels by Charles Willeford.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the dark comedy-drama will focus on a detective - played by Giamatti - in 1980s’ Miami who is dealing with a mid-life crisis and murder. The hour-long pilot will be filmed later this year in Miami.
The 46-year-old actor is also set to executive produce the pilot, alongside Carol Fenelon, Curtis Hanson, and Giamatti's producing partner Dan Carey.
Giamatti's next movie is the JFK assassination thriller Parkland, and he’s also joining the Downton Abbey cast ahead of the period drama's fourth season.
