Chadwick Boseman will play James Brown in an upcoming biopic about the Godfather of Soul which is being co-produced by Grandfather of Rock Mick Jagger.

Boseman, who starred in baseball movie 42, was one of many actors vying for the role but he has now officially been cast.

The film will be directed by The Help's Tate Taylor and produced by Changeling and American Gangster producer Brian Grazer, along with Erica Huggins (Katy Perry: Part of Me) and Jagger.

The story will follow Brown's rise from poverty in Georgia to world famous musician who toured until his death in 2006 at the age of 73.
