Former Eastenders star Barbara Windsor has said that she turned down joining Strictly Come Dancing this year.

The 76-year-old said to The Sun "I have been asked to take part in Strictly but have said no.

"I think I am at an age where I don't want to learn any more." The actress said that she would find the competition tough as she is such a perfectionist.

Windsor returns to Eastenders and her character of Peggy Mitchell for one episode later this year.

Amongst the other names linked to this year’s Strictly, which returns to BBC One this Autumn, are Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Vanessa Feltz and Ben Cohen.
