Met Éireann meteorologist and outdoor enthusiast Evelyn Cusack has launched this year's Boru3peaks Challenge fundraiser, which will take place in the hills surrounding Killaloe/Ballina and Lough Derg on the weekend of October 12-13.

Funds raised this year will go to the Mid-Western Cancer Foundation in Limerick and the provision of an all-weather playing-pitch in St Anne's Community College in Killaloe.

"Boru3Peaks is targeted at runners and walkers of all abilities who are looking for a unique challenge while at the same time raising money for a worthy cause," said Orla Foley of Boru Tri Club, the triathlon club in Killaloe/Ballina which organises the event.

She added: "We are fortunate in the Lough Derg area to have so many scenically beautiful mountain walks and climbs which is what sets Boru3Peaks apart. We also aim to give 100% of what participants give to us directly to the nominated causes.

"Boru Tri Club once again looks forward to welcoming participants of all ages during what will be a fun and memorable weekend for all."
