Samuel L Jackson has been cast in The Secret Service.

The Django Unchained star is set to play the villain in director Matthew Vaughn's (X-Men: First Class, Kick Ass) big-screen adaptation of Mark Millar and Dave Gibbon's comic book series.

He joins already-cast Colin Firth, who will star as a veteran secret agent who takes a young upstart under his wing.

Variety reports that newcomer Taron Egerton will take the role of the young man who is recruited into a school for secret agents.

The female lead has yet to be cast, however actresses Emma Watson and Dark Shadows star Bella Heathcote have been tipped for the role.

Vaughn has written the script for the project with Jane Goldman and production is expected to begin this autumn.
