It has been confirmed that composer John Williams will return to write the music for Star Wars: Episode VII which will be directed by J.J. Abrams.

The news was announced by Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy at a Star Wars fan event in Germany this weekend.

After the announcement a video was played where the composer talked about working on the score and also how he prefers to work on films without seeing the script.

Williams said he has not seen the latest script saying “I’m waiting anxiously like the audience around the world to find out what the surprises are, and discover what my continued role is going to be.”

Speaking about the director the 81-year-old said he seemed “for me, very young” adding “He’s also very experienced. He’s had some great success with large-scale projects which are very difficult logistically and mechanically and photographically.”
