Eddie Murphy will reprise his role as Axel Foley in the next installment of Beverly Hills Cop.
Paramount Pictures have signed up Eddie Murphy to step into the role of Axel Foley once again according to Deadline.
A planned TV remake of the hit movie franchise failed to be picked up by any network and has been shelved. However the studio saw that there was a huge amount of interest and fuelled plans for another big screen installment.
Eddie is said to have given a "scene-stealing" performance as Axel in the pilot and led executives to believe that the character still has potential.
Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec will write the script, having previously worked on the likes of Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles remake.
