Krysten Ritter has been confirmed to star in the Veronica Mars movie.

According to The Wrap, director Rob Thomas revealed that Ritter will reprise her role as Gia Goodman in the feature-length version of the hit TV show.

Taking to her Twitter page, Krysten said: "G-G-G-Gia!!!! I'm thrilled to be reprising my role of Gia Goodman in the Veronica Mars movie!!! It's gonna be very juicy Marshmallows!!!!! AAAHHHH!!!! (sic)"

"Veronica Mars has a special place in my heart because it was my first big acting job (!!!!!!) and it was also one of the most lovely on-set experiences you could ever ask for. This will truly be an awesome shoot, not only because we all get to be reunited (can't WAIT!) but because of the revolutionary way this all was able to come to life!"

The 32-year-old actress joins former Veronica Mars cast members Tina Majorino, Brandon Hillock, Kevin Sheridan, Jonathan Chesner, Percy Daggs III, Chris Lowell, Francis Capra, Jason Dohring and Daran Norris in signing up for the project.

A Kickstarter funding campaign is behind the development of the project,  which has raised $5.7 million to date.
