Christina Hendricks is in final negotiations to star in the coming-of-age tale Measure of a Man.

If she signs up, the Mad Men star will star alongside Riley Griffiths (Super 8) in the drama which will be directed by Terry Loane, Deadline reports.

The script, which is an adaptation of Robert Lipsyte's young adult novel One Fat Summer, was written by A Single Man scribe David Scearce.

Set in the 1970s, Measure of a Man stars Griffiths as a bullied teenager who takes a summer job from a reclusive Wall Street executive.

Hendricks is in line to play the boy's mother, whose independence and new career path is causing friction in her marriage.

Production on the movie is expected to begin this summer in Connecticut and New York.

Hendricks is set to reunite with her Drive co-star Ryan Gosling on his directorial debut How to Catch a Monster.
