Liam Hemsworth has been given a starring role in the upcoming crime thriller Cut Bank.
The Hunger Games star has been cast in the lead role of Dwayne McLaren in Matt Shakman's directorial debut, reports Deadline.
Cut Bank centres on Dwayne, a washed up athlete turned auto-mechanic, who is desperate to flee his hometown in Montana. However, his dreams of escaping the town, which is the coldest place in America, set in motion a series of events which will change him forever.
Hemsworth joins a heavy-weight cast of actors including John Malkovich, Ben Kingsley, Michael Sheen and Teresa Palmer.
Director Shakman's previous TV credits include Mad Men, Six Feet Under House, Revenge and House.
Production on Cut Bank began this week in Alberta, Canada.
Hemsworth recently wrapped filming on The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. He will also be seen this summer in Paranoia.
