Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe is set to play an American crime reporter based in Tokyo in the new film, Tokyo Vice. The Hollywood Reporter says the film will be based on the memoirs of Jake Adelstein who was a US journalist working in Japan’s biggest newspaper and writing about the city’s underworld.
The film will be directed by music and advertising director Anthony Mandler and it will begin shooting next year.
Adelstein worked as a crime reporter on the Yomiuri Shimbun which is the largest newspaper in the world based on circulation. The journalist is working closely with JT Rogers on the script.
Adelstein said of the casting “Daniel Radcliffe is 24, about the same age as I was when I began as a cub reporter. I think he’s really maturing as an actor and will be great for the role.”
