Justin Bieber wants his pet Capuchin monkey Mally housed at a zoo after the animal was seized by customs in Berlin last month, according to reports.

The 19-year-old singer, who is rumoured to have rekindled his romance with Disney star Selena Gomez, has asked the animal centre, which has been caring for Mally, to find a new home for his furry friend, according to The Sun newspaper.

Karl Heinz Joachim, the boss of the animal centre where the monkey is staying, insists it is vital Mally is found a new home quickly: ''There are a great many suitable places that have offered to take Mally and integrate him with their own Capuchin monkeys where he would be much more happy with his own kind.

''A baby monkey was never going to be suited to be on a world tour even if he is travelling by private jet. He should be out in the wild climbing tress and learning from other monkeys if he isn't to have serious psychological problems later in life.''
