Justin Bieber's pet monkey has been seized by German officials after the singer allegedly tried to sneak the animal into the country.

The 19-year-old Beauty and the Beat singer, flew from Los Angeles to Munich on Thursday to continue the European leg of his Believe tour accompanied by the Capuchin monkey, named Mally, but he did not have the required documents for the pet.

Speaking to The Sun newspaper, a customs spokesman said: "The animal required a certificate of health and other authorisations. You cannot just land with a wild animal and bring it into the country if the flight has not originated from another EU country and [Bieber didn't have] the proper paperwork."

Following his Munich gig, Bieber took to Twitter, posting: "Munich was a good time. And loud. The bus is headed to Vienna now. U coming? (sic)"
