Trance Director Danny Boyle has said that his next film is likely to be a period drama.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Boyle said he is currently working on two historical films. He said "All I can say is they won't be like Downton Abbey. It won't be that kind of period movie."

The director has previously spoken about being interested in filming Andrew Miller’s novel Ingenious Pain which is set in 18th-century England and Russia.

Trance tells the story of an art auctioneer who undergoes hypnosis in order to recover a lost painting. It stars James McAvoy and Rosario Dawson and is in cinemas now.
