Irish actor Richard Dormer has spoken to RTÉ TEN about his role in the third season of HBO's Game of Thrones.

The show, which returns to Sky Atlantic on March 31, will see the actor take on a part in the hugely successful fantasy series.

Dormer explained: "I play Beric Dondarrion who is the leader of the Brotherhood Without Banners and I have a flaming sword.

"Most of my scenes were with Rory McCann who plays the hound and Arya Stark as well, and Paul Kay who's brilliant."

The actor also spoke about being part of such a lavish production, explaining: "It was like being on a huge film set you know, I mean the attention to detail - it's HBO they really know what they're doing. The script is amazing, the actors are brilliant, it's just a dream come true."

Dormer is also starring in the new film Good Vibrations about Belfast music legend Terri Hooley which is out in cinemas this Friday, March 29.
