Girls Aloud singer Nadine Coyle has said that she tried to stop the group from splitting up.

The Northern Irish singer said that she was keen for the group to continue after they played the final date in their greatest hits tour to mark ten years of the band which finished in Liverpool this week.

Coyle tweeted "You should know by now I had no part in any of this split business. I couldn't stop them. I had the best time & want to keep going."

The band members were visibly upset on stage at the end of their last performance with Sarah Harding breaking down in tears at Liverpool’s Echo Arena.
