We’ve had the TV series (several of them in fact), the book and the web-based show and now the countdown for the long-awaited Alan Partridge movie has begun with the release of the first trailer and the official title.

Watch the trailer here

It’s called Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa and will see the deluded radio host's beloved station North Norfolk Digital being taken over by a giant media conglomerate and renamed Shape. The movie takes a dramatic turn when Alan is drawn into an armed siege that takes him across Norfolk.

The adaptation, written by Armando Iannucci, Neil Gibbons, Rob Gibbons and Coogan, will open on August 7 and the title refers to the radio call sign for Alan's initials AP.

I'm Alan Partridge regulars Lynn (Felicity Montagu), Geordie garage worker Michael (Simon Greenall) and DJ Dave Clifton (Phil Cornwell) will return for the feature film.
