BBC broadcaster Andrew Marr has been released from hospital after suffering a stroke earlier this year.

The TV and radio host fell ill on January 8th and had been hospitalised since.

A BBC spokeswoman told Sky News that Marr will continue rehabilitation and treatment at home with his family.

The spokeswoman added that Marr, his wife Jackie Ashley and their three children are hoping he will be allowed to "recover privately".

Marr presents BBC One's The Andrew Marr Show on Sunday mornings, as well as fronting documentaries for the corporation and appearing on Radio 4.
