The death has taken place of the country music star Mindy McCready. She was 37.

Reuters reports that the singer's body was found on Sunday afternoon on the porch of a house in Heber Springs, Arkansas.

The Cleburne County Sheriff's Office said she appears to have died in tragic circumstances.

Last month, producer David Wilson, the father of Mindy McCready's youngest son Zayne, was found dead in similar tragic circumstances in the same town.

Born Malinda Gayle McCready in Fort Myers, Florida, Mindy McCready sang in church as a child and began her professional music career as a teenager.

Her debut album, 1996's Ten Thousand Angels, sold 2m copies.

However, her success and acclaim were overshadowed by a deeply troubled personal life.

She is survived by her sons Zander, aged six, and Zayne, who was born last April.
