RTÉ has topped the ratings for Christmas 2012 as more of the Irish viewing public tuned in to RTÉ Television than any other station, with Mrs Brown's Boys taking the Number One spot on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

On Christmas Day, Mrs Brown's Boys – The Virgin Mammy on RTÉ One had an average of 972,000 viewers and a 47% share of all Irish viewers.

On Christmas Eve, Mrs Brown's Boys – Mammy Christmas had an average of 851,000 viewers and a 51% share.

The new series of Mrs Brown's Boys begins on RTÉ One tomorrow, Saturday December 29, at 9:35pm.

Nine of the Top 10 most-watched programmes on Christmas Day were on RTÉ Television, with RTÉ Six-One News in second place behind Mrs Brown's Boys with 580,000 viewers and EastEnders in third with over 496,000 viewers.

On Christmas Eve, eight of the most-watched programmes were on RTÉ Television, with RTÉ Six-One News in second place behind Mrs Brown's Boys with over 518,000 viewers and For One Night Only – Sharon Shannon in third with an average of 466,000 viewers.

On St Stephen's Day, eight of the Top 10 programmes were also on RTÉ Television, with RTÉ Six-One News top with 543,000 viewers, EastEnders in third place with 460,000 viewers and The Zoo Christmas Special in fourth with 429,000 viewers.
