James Arthur was named the winner of the X Factor last night.
The 24-year-old singer, from Saltburn, near Middlesbrough in Britain beat Jahmene Douglas to take the title in front of a 10,000-strong audience at Manchester Arena.
Arthur looked stunned as host Dermot O'Leary announced the result and could only say "wow" when asked how he felt.
"I don't what to say," he added.
Christopher Maloney was eliminated from the X Factor just shy of the final of this year's singing competition, placing third overall.
The 34-year-old Liverpudlian received the lowest amount of votes on Saturday night, meaning he was automatically eliminated at the end of the show, which was staged in Manchester.
Nicole Scherzinger was the only judge with an act vying for the title, with two of her original three acts still in the competition.
Each act duetted with their mentor on Saturday, while Rita Ora, Kelly Clarkson and Kylie Minogue also performed.
Several former contestants returned to the show also including Rylan Clark, Lucy Spraggan, Melanie Masson, Kye Sones and recently eliminated group Union J.
