Noel Gallagher has said he would like to see Chris Maloney winning this weekend’s X Factor final for comedy value.

He said "I've been watching and I wouldn't mind seeing the Scouser win, because it'd be great to watch him have a nervous breakdown." However he then added: "But I also think James Arthur should win. That lad's the best out of them all. I do like The X Factor, I've got to say, for my sins."

The High Flying Birds singer made his comments while speaking about the line-up for the Teenage Cancer Trust gigs at London's Royal Albert Hall which are set for next year. He said "I've always been more than pleased to lend my support over the years.

"It's also now a charity that is very close to the hearts and minds of dozens of acts in the world of music. It's an honour to have the task of putting together the bills for next year's series of concerts at the Royal Albert Hall."

He also said he will play with his former Britpop rivals Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon at the event.
