Following the news that Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3) is to write the next Star Wars movie, it is reported that The Empire Strikes Back writer Lawrence Kasdan and X-Men: The Last Stand writer Simon Kinberg have agreed deals to write the sequels.

The Hollywood Reporter, quoting unnamed sources, says that Kasdan and Kinberg will "write either Episode VIII or Episode IX" and will also produce the films.

Kasdan also wrote Return of the Jedi and Raiders of the Lost Ark, while Kinberg's other credits include Sherlock Holmes and the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Both Disney and Lucasfilm have declined to comment on the story, which was first reported by Deadline.com, but have said official announcements will be made on StarWars.com.
