Meryl Streep's daughter Grace Gummer has landed a role in the second season of Aaron Sorkin's HBO drama Newsroom.

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that she will play the recurring role of Hallie Shea, a reporter who is embedded with the Mitt Romney campaign.

Her casting comes on the heels of Rosemarie DeWitt (Rachel Getting Married) and Patton Oswalt (The King of Queens) joining, also in recurring roles.

Oswalt is set to play the new VP of human resources at cable network Atlantic Cable News, while DeWitt’s role is as a litigator brought in to defend the network in a wrongful-termination lawsuit.

Gummer guest-starred on NBC's Smash last season as the daughter of Eileen (Anjelica Huston). Her film credits include Margin Call and Frances Ha.

Her sister, Mamie Gummer, stars in the CW's freshman drama Emily Owens, MD, which has yet to be picked up on this side of the Atlantic.

Newsroom season two is due in 2013 on Sky Atlantic.
