Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy is planning a guest appearance for Bette Midler on the show.

Murphy wrote on Twitter that he had invited the Grammy Award-winning singer to appear on the musical drama at the God's Love We Deliver Golden Heart Awards on Monday, October 15.

He tweeted: "I just asked the incredible Bette Midler to be on Glee in front of 1,000 people. I hope she says yes!"

Murphy later added: "Bette said yes! Amazing. I am plotting... who should she play?"

The showrunner also confirmed that American Idol's Jessica Sanchez had been cast in Glee, and teased a possible themed episode of the show.

He posted: "With voices like Jessica, Lea [Michele], Naya [Rivera], Melissa [Benoist], Amber [Riley], and Jenna [Ushkowitz]... [Barbra] Streisand episode?"
