Animal right activists at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) were so thrilled Anne Hathaway had an all-vegan wedding that they have sponsored a rescue calf in her name.

The A-List actress married Adam Shulman last Saturday (Sept 29) in California and served her guests an all-vegan meal after the ceremony.

Delighted at her decision PETA have now sponsored a rescue calf – called Peter – in her name.

PETA executive vice president Tracy Reiman said: ''By going vegan, Anne is doing the best thing that she can to better her health and save calves like Peter from a life of suffering. Anne is living proof that vegans are beautiful from the inside out.''

Around 100 guests attended the wedding, Anne wore a gown designed by Valentino, and the decor at the celebration was inspired by nature.

Speaking previously, Anne said she was looking forward to being single until she met Adam. She said: ''I am very much in love with him, only Adam totally ruined my plan. I was really actually looking forward to a little alone time, and then I fell in love like a fool!''
