Helen Mirren is revisiting her Oscar-winning role in The Queen, playing Elizabeth II in a new play called The Audience.

The play, which has been written by Peter Morgan, will be directed by Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot) and is slated to open in London's West End in February 2013.

The Audience reunites the 67-year-old actress with playwright Morgan, who wrote 2006's The Queen.

The play depicts six decades of weekly meetings between The Queen and some of the 12 Prime Ministers of her reign at Buckingham Palace.

The Audience opens on 15 February 2013, and runs to 15 June at London's Gielgud theatre.
