Michael Keaton has joined the cast of the forthcoming RoboCop remake, it has been announced.
The Batman Returns star will take on the role of Raymond Sellars, a part which Hugh Laurie was originally in talks for.
Sellars is the CEO of the company which builds RoboCop, who will be played by Joel Kinnaman.
The film's director Jose Padhila said of the casting announcement in a statement: "Michael is the final addition to the amazing cast we have assembled for this film and it is so great to have the last puzzle piece in place.
"It is thrilling that everything has come together to bring this innovative new vision of RoboCop to life. We've got a great script, a great cast, some killer ED-209's and I can't wait to get Alex Murphy back on the street."
Also starring in the movie are Gary Oldman, Samuel L Jackson and Abbie Cornish, which is scheduled for an August 9, 2013 release.
