While the BBC has yet to officially confirm the start date of the upcoming seventh series of Doctor Who, it has been reported that the sci-fi drama will be back very early next month.

The Radio Times website says that the series returns to BBC One on Saturday September 1 at 7:20pm, but broadcasters' listings are subject to change.

The series opens with Asylum of the Daleks and this season will see the departures of Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) and her husband Rory Williams (Arthur Darvill).

The Doctor's (Matt Smith) new assistant, played by Jenna-Louise Coleman, will also debut this season.
