Universal has decided to change its planned sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman and is instead moving ahead on a solo Huntsman movie starring Chris Hemsworth without Kristen Stewart.

The Hollywood Reporter announced the change from a straightforward sequel to the hit which starred Stewart, Hemsworth and Charlize Theron to a spinoff. The screenwriter David Keopp who was hired to write the follow-up will no longer be part of the project.

A spokesperson for Universal is quoted as saying "The studio is currently exploring options to continue the franchise."

The film has been much in the news after it emerged that its star Stewart was involved in a brief relationship with its director, the married Rupert Sanders. It is not clear if Sanders will be involved in the planned spin-off.
