Tim Burton has said that Michael Keaton is crucial to getting a Beetlejuice sequel off the ground.
Dark Shadows writer Seth Grahame-Smith is currently working on a script for the proposed Beetlejuice II, in the belief that Burton is open to direct a sequel if the screenplay is strong enough.
Burton has added to the momentum by stating to MTV News that he would consider the project if Michael Keaton returns as the eccentric ghost.
"I think he would be willing to do it. [Keaton] would have to be [in] it," Burton said. "He was great as that character. I think it's a way to unleash your inner whatever. I bet you he would get right back into it."
"I just said to Seth, 'If you have some idea about it, go for it, and then I'll look at it freshly'."
