Sarah Jessica Parker has starred in a new ad campaign, endorsing US President Barack Obama.

The commercial, which will be aired on Sunday, features Parker urging voters to support "the guy who ended the war in Iraq, the guy who says you should be able to marry anyone you want and the guy who created four million new jobs."

Parker encourages viewers to become an Obama campaign volunteer by offering the chance for some supporters to attend a fundraiser on June 14 in her home.

The event will be co-hosted by Vogue editor Anna Wintour, who has also recorded an endorsement video for Obama.

Volunteers are being asked to pledge $3 for entry into a raffle to win tickets to the event.

The actress also sent an email to Obama volunteers, explaining her support for the politician.

"As a woman, a mother, and an entrepreneur, I need to believe our country can be a place where everyone has a fair shot at success" Parker wrote.

"This November's election will determine whether we get to keep moving forward, or if we're forced to go back to policies that ask people like my middle-class family in Ohio to carry the burden - while people like me, who don't need tax breaks, get extra help."
