It’s been reported that Leona Lewis is on the verge of becoming The X Factor's second guest judge.

According to PA, the singer, who won the hugely successful star-search show in 2006, is in talks with executives and could be confirmed over the coming days.

Geri Halliwell was hired as the first temporary panellist to sit alongside regulars Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh and Tulisa Contostavlos in the first round of 2012 auditions, held in Liverpool.

Fellow Spice Girls star Mel B and UK chart-topper Rita Ora are also allegedly being lined up before a permanent replacement for the departed Kelly Rowland is announced.

Rowland, who lasted one year, confirmed her X Factor departure last month claiming it was the result of "global commitments".
