Disney has decided to put its planned action movie Order of the Seven, which was to have starred Saoirse Ronan, on hold indefinitely.

The film was originally a revisionist Snow White adventure, Snow and the Seven, but was then reworked because of the release of two Snow White movies, Mirror Mirror and Snow White and the Huntsman.

The new movie was to have told the story of a once revered group of warriors from the East who must renounce their outlaw ways in a bid to triumph over an evil empress.

Sources told the Hollywood Reporter that after the box office performance of John Carter, Disney had been looking at the budgets of its planned movies.

The trade daily says the current lack of a studio chief at Disney and a first-time director, Michael Gracey, also added to the uncertainty around the project.
